Ian Pryde is CEO of Eurasia Strategy & Communications, a Moscow-based company providing premium advisory and consulting services to governments and corporations from within and outside the region, including Western Europe, China and the USA.

Ian is an expert on Germany and the Former Soviet Union. He moved to Frankfurt in 1984 after completing post-graduate research on German foreign policy at Cambridge and since first visiting Moscow in 1986 has spent some fifteen years in Russia, Central Asia and Azerbaijan. He was married to a Russian from 1988 to 2003 and has native fluency in Russian and German.

Ian writes a weekly column for the Opinion & Analysis section of RIA-Novosti’s website and is a regular contributor to Russia Profile.

He has also written on Russia for the Economist Intelligence Unit, Business Monitor International Limited, the Cambridge Review of International Affairs and The Moscow Times, and on Central Asia for the Royal Institute of International Affairs, the Journal of Democracy, Finansovye Izvestiia in Moscow and Res Publica, the leading Russian-language broadsheet in the Kyrgyz Republic in the early 1990s.

Ian has an M.Phil. in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, an M.Sc. in International Securities, Investment and Banking from the ISMA Centre at the University of Reading and a B.A. in Politics & Modern History from the University of Manchester. He also studied German politics and Russian at the University of Frankfurt on a German government scholarship.
